Default Boo for Mighty mounts

Oh, did I hate those stupid mighty mounts.

When I was looking for a car I almost did not buy my MDX since the rack options where so limited, but I decided to go for it and I have been using those stupid Mighty Mounts for over a year now. They are ugly and they flex all over the place. Plus, they add a good inch on my clearance.

This weekend I finally did something about it, I drilled holes through my factory cross bars and bolted my High Rollers directly to the car rack. The finial product gives a much cleaner look to my car. It almost looks like they could have come that way from Acura.

Check out my attached pics

Also, I got the Highrollers from you guys when they first came out and I meant to send you a review of them. As I am sure you now know, they are far superior to the king cobra in so many was.

First, the looks. I am not all that vain, but I do have a luxury SUV and I always thought the cobra’s where ugly. Second, I am definitely getting better gas mileage with the Highrollers. When you first open the highrollers up, the first thing you notice is that the build quality is much better. The highrollers are so much easer to use. I like to be able to move quickly since I will double park my car in DC to pick up my wife and her bike. With the highrollers, I can get the bike up there with out have to adjust for wheel height even if my mountain bike was up there last. Locking the wheel down is so much easier with the over sized knob compared to that stupid little thing on the Cobras. Finally, the bikes are much more stable,

Default i like the yakima vertical mighty mounts on my ski rack though

I like the yakima vertical mighty mounts that i use with my old yakima powderhound ski rack. It's actully pretty funny how the mighty mounts used with the ski racks are called vertical mighty mounts and the ones used with bike racks and the kayak racks are called horizontal mighty mounts. but the ski rack actually sits closer to the crossbar on th vertical mighty mounts because it inserts into the ski rack, while the bike racks sit up higher on the crossbars because the bike rack rests on top of the horizontal mighty mounts. i noticed all the new models of yakima ski racks and snowboard racks now come with universal factory rack crossbar adapters so you dont need to mess with the vertical mighty mounts anymore.

hey i liked your no b.s. review of the yakima highroller vs the king cobra. i'm definitely leaning toward the highroller bike rack for next spring. thanks!
