2008 Saturn Outlook Yakima Question

I have an '08 Saturn Outlook and I've seen that Yakima sells the Low Rider Max system that utilizes my factory roof rails. Does anyone know if the spread on the cross bars will be limited by the plastic moldings that are under the roof rails at the front and rear? The factory cross bars can use most of the length of the roof rails since they fit in channels on the insides of the rails. There's not much open space under the roof rails due to that plastic molding so I would only be able to space the cross bars @ two feet or so.

Actually, thanks to those plastic crossbar inhibitors, as I like to call them, the maximum bar spread for your '08 Saturn Outlook with the Lowrider Max set up is only 20", which limits what you can attach to your crossbars to skis carriers, a select number of bike carriers, and the StrapThang surfboard/sailboard carrier provided your board is 10' or less. You can go ahead and forget about carrying canoes, kayaks, cargo boxes, or couches.

It could be worse however. The folks at Thule don't provide a fit for that vehicle at all. So to Yakima, we owe our sincere gratitude.

Sticking with the factory crossbars, which allows you to throw kayak carriers and cargo boxes into the mix, may be your best option.
