Question what is difference between 2005 VW Jetta type V & type IV

I need a car rack system for my 2005 VW Jetta sedan. I want a Thule roof rack but I found out there are 2 different Thule Fit Kits available for the 2005 VW Jetta, one for the Type V model and another for the Type IV model. Not sure how to tell which Fit Kit I need for my specific Volkswagon Jetta and whether I have the Type IV model or the Type V VW Jetta model. Basically what is the difference between the 2005 Volkswagen Jetta Type V and 2005 Volkswagen Jetta Type IV?

Default check with volkswagen dealer to see if you have 2005 VW Jetta type V or type IV

Volkswagen released a new version of the VW Jetta mid way thru 2005 and called it the 2005.5 VW Jetta. Models of the VW Jetta prior to this are known as Type IV models and beginning with the 2005.5 and later are referred to as the Type V model. It is best to check with your Volkswagon dealer to find which model you have if you are unsure.

No matter which model you have you will need the Thule 400XT Aero car rack system. The Thule 400XT Aero system includes four 400XT Aero feet, four Fit Kit Clips (the 2141 Fit Kit Clips are needed for the Type V model and the 2047 Fit Kit Clips are needed for the Type V model ) and two load bars (the 50" load bars are the recommended length for your rooftop). You can then attach the various Thule Racks roof mount gear carriers to the front and rear load bars.
