Cool Saris Bones Racks/Pontiac Grand Prix

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone has tried to put a Saris Bones 2 or 3 trunk rack on a 97-01 Pontiac Grand Prix. Their website says it does not fit, but I am hoping that someone out there has gone against what the fit guide says and tried it anyway hopefully reaching success. Let me know your stories.

Default bike shop would not sell me the Saris Bones trunk bike rack

I have a Pontiac Grand Prix and took it to my local bike shop hoping to get the Saris Bones trunk rack installed. But I was told it was not compatible with the Grand Prix and they wouldn't sell it or install for me. They said the Thule trunk bike racks were required so I got the Thule 962XT bike rack. It doesn't look as cool as the Saris Bones but I actually really do love how easy it is to load the bikes and there's no bike sway or anything either.

Talking

Well I now officially have a Saris Bones 2 Bike Rack on my 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix. I found someone on Craigslist that was selling one and went and tried it out. They also said they had theirs on a 1998 Grand Prix, but I don't know if they were telling me that to convince me to buy. I don't really see any problems with the compatability other than the sway straps that connect to the side of the trunk slide down. However, if you put them in the right place they won't slide. Let me know if you have any questions.
