Default kayak rack for 2 door 2007 chevy cobalt

Hi,
does anyone have a solution for a kayak rack for a 2007 Chevy cobalt? Looking at the Thule and Yakima web sites they do not have a rack that will work for Kayaks.

thanks sincerely.

Default could try the foam blocks car rack kayak kit or the inflatable roof rack

I think the 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt 2 door's roof is just too short to safely carry long items like kayaks. You normally need a base rack system that will have sufficient distance between the front and rear base rack crossbars to provide a solid platform to safely carry the kayak. Thule Racks and Yakima Racks do offer stretch kits for many short roof lined vehicles that will spread the front and rear crossbar distance out but some reason they haven't been able to engineer the stretch kits to work on your car.

I don't know if these other options will work, but I've seen many people try out these pretty cheap solutions when a Thule Rack or Yakima Rack base system won't work...

the first option is a foam blocks kayak kit and the second option is the inflatable roof rack system. If you do try these out you definitely want to use bow and stern tie-down straps to fully secure the front and rear of the boat when transporting it.

thanks, I think I might give the inflatable system a try.

Default akayak trailer to haul your kaayk is another great option

You could also try a kayak trailer as another option. All you'd have to do is have a 1 1/4 inch installed at any local car accessory store or talk to your car dealer. The kayak trailers are very light and if you get one online they even ship via UPS, just like standard packages, and then you would do the final assembly. The kayak trailer has cross bars on it that you can then mount the kayak racks onto. So being very low to the ground it's a cinch to load the kayak onto the kayak rack then. The Malone kayak trailers are very popular. Most people then mount either the Malone AutoLoader kayak rack or the Malone SeaWing kayak rack to the kayak trailer cross bars.
