Default spare tire in roof basket on 1994 Toyota 4Runner roof rack question

I'm seriously thinking of carrying the spare tire from my 1994 Toyota 4Runner on the roof top. There is a factory installed Toyota 4Runner roof rack already on it. Would a roof basket be my best option and if so are there any accessories made specifically for carrying a spare tire inside the roof basket. Anyone whose found a solution your advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and great public car rack forum!!!

Default Yakima MegaWarrior basket rack connects to your 1994 Toyota 4-Runner roof rack

Shouldn't be a problem trail hiker2. In fact you are probably better off going with a basket rack for all your gear transport needs. It will look super cool and rugged on top of your 1994 Toyota 4 Runner for starters.

I use a Yakima MegaWarrior basket on top of my 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee roof rack and it not only looks bomber but it is the most practical gear carrier in the world! Get the MegaWarrior extension kit too. This adds a ton of extra cargo capacity by lengthening the basket. You can then put your spare tire up top and tighten it down using Yakima Racks Spare Tire mount that connects to the basket. The Yakima Lift Jack Kit is a nice accessory that attaches to the basket and allows you to carry your Lift Jack on the basket too. What the MegaWarrior also has that I didn't know about before I bought it, is that it has two integrated cross bars connected to it that are also moveable. This allows you to connect any gear carriers like bike racks or kayak racks directly to the MegaWarrior basket! Pretty nifty. You can then stow all your cargo gear, bags and camping gear anywhere there is extra room in the basket and cover it with the MegaWarrior stretch net.

Default Megawarrior

Justa head's up, the Yakima Megawarrior only comes with one moveable bar, but it is more than sufficient.

Default megawarrior extension will allow the moveable bar to adjust even further

Especially if you went for it and got the MegaWarrior Extension, which will make your 4Runner look like one bad mofo in town or off-roadin'. With the Mega Warrior Extension that one single bar can adjust to a whole range of distances from the other stationary bar. You can find the perfect bar spread for any Yakima gear carrier, from a bike rack to a canoe rack.
