need cheap canoe rack for factory rack bars

I can't find a real canoe rack for the factory rack crossbars on my 1996 Jeep Cherokee. I don't want to use the lame foam blocks. I tried those and they dont work well and are even harder to get it all set up. I just want a cheap canoe rack that'll mount directly to the crossbars and carry the canoe solidly by the gunnels (i.e. the canoe flipped upside down). The Thule Rack and Yakima Rack canoe carriers are sweet but they dont connect to the factory rack and i dont want to hve to shell out a bunch of extra money to buy a whole now base rack system for the Jeep Cherokee just to install the canoe brackets. Does anyone know of another company that has a canoe rack for factory racks and aren't the foam block canoe carrier kind.
