Default kayak & canoe carrier for 2002 Honda CRV

I need to carry a 9' 3" kayak and a 16' canow on some kind of 2002 Honda CRV roof rack system. The problem is the Honda CRV isn't he model that has the factory rack installed on it and not sure if you can but a car rack on this model other than the factory rack? which btw I'm told isn't rated for carrying the weight and load of a canoe and kayak at the same time anyway???

Default yakima racks makes a good 2002 Honda CR-V canoe & kayak roof rack system

Yakima Racks makes a great solution for your 2002 Honda CR-V to carry a canoe and kayak. First off you'll need that multi-purpose roof rack base system. You will attach the kayak and canoe carriers to the front and rear cross bars on this base rack. The Yakima Control Towers & Landing Pads Complete Roof Rack Base System fits the Honda CR-V perfectly. Using the set of four Yakima #8 Landing Pads, the Control Tower multi-purpose base rack system connects directly to the four pre-placed points in your CRV roof that Honda has made to allow this rack system to install. The Control Towers system includes four Control Towers, four #8 Landing Pads and a pair of cross bars. The 58inch cross bars are the recommended crossbars length for carrying a canoe and kayak at the same time.

Now for the kayak rack...the Yakima HullRaiser is a universal kayak rack that carries your kayak using a j-cradle design, which also makes it very easy to load/unload a kayak. Attaches directly to the base rack front and rear cross bars. I highly recommend this option because the Yakima HullRaiser uses up less crossbar space so you can attach the canoe carrier to the crossbars at the same time.

The Yakima BowDown works exactly the same way as the HullRaiser except that it allows you to fold the upright cradles down when not in use so there are no possible overhead clearance issues when pulling into garages or low-overhang entrances.

And now get that cone up there...you should then get the Yakima Gunwale Brackets Canoe Carrier. Connects directly to Control Tower base rack front and rear cross bars. Four Gunwale brackets included and two heavy-duty padded straps included also. For total transport safety I suggest also getting the pair of Yakima bow/stern tie down strapsfor your canoe.

CHECK OUT THIS CANOE LIFT ASSIST TOO
The Yakima ShowBoat Lift Assist is also worth checking out. This Yakima ShowBoat attaches to the Control Towers base rack crossbars and includes a roller that telescopes out over the edge of the rear of your roof to allow you to place the front of the canoe or kayak on it and then roll it into place on the canoe and kayak carriers. Then you just retract the Showboat back into its storage position and you are ready to go! Please note that you will also need to get an extra set of Yakima 66 inch crossbars which are used as the extensions bars for the Yakima ShowBoat.
