Default 684 terrapin vs. 664 Transporter

What is the difference between the Thule 684 Terrapin and the Thule 664 Transporter? They are the same size at 13 cubic feet.

Default yeah what justifies thule 684 terrapin to be $150 more than thule 664 transporter

I'm looking into getting a hitch mount cargo box too and I'm also confused same as davyjones about the main difference(s) between the Thule 684 Terrapin hitch cargo box and the Thule 664 Transporter hitch mount cargo box, seeing as the there is about a $150 difference in price between the two models!!!

Default Terrapin 684 vs. Transporter 664

The only differences I can come up with is that the thule Terrapin has a nicer top than the thule transporter, it has a drain plug in case you get water inside, and it has a cool gear organizer inside. Is it worth $150? I don't know.

Default thule 684 terrapin cargo box swings away / 664 transporter titls down

The thule 684 terrapin swings away from the rear and the thule 664 just tilts down manually. I don't know if you can put a price tag on the swing away vs the tilt down but it's totally worth it! I bought the transporter hitch mount cargo box not knowing it would be a big deal to try and get in the back of my ford bronco but the tilt down was a total pain especially when it was loaded up with camping and hunting gear. I gave it to my father in law and went with the 684 terrapin cargo box instead. It swings all the way from the rear of the Bronco even when full. I even carried a deer in it last year. I'll tell ya the drain valve was sweet when I went to clean the cargo box out afterwards too!!!
