Default question about various items in roof bag for 2003 Subaru Forester

I don't really know what would be the best cartop cargo luggage bag for my 2003 Subaru Forester? I will be carrying basic duffle bags, suitcases and other luggage gear but also camping equipment and miscellaneous supplies for the beach. Will all this fit nicely in a roof bag?

Default I use a roof basket and waterproof bag combination on my factory rack bars

You sound like you would like the exact same set up I have on my factory rack... I'm using the Thule 690 MOAB cargo basket which mounts directly to the factory rack crossbars. Then I attach the Thule 867 Tahoe roof bag to the roof basket. Finally I use the Thule 692 Basket Stretch Net to cover everything including the Thule 867 Tahoe roof bag and all the other items I am carrying in the 690 MOAB basket. The waterproof roof bag is great for the luggage, suitcases etc. Then I stash all the camping equipment and stuff in the basket surrounding the 867 Tahoe bag and cover it all with the 692 basket net.

By the way, an excellent accessory is the Thule 232 Step Up which goes on any of the car wheels and provides a raised step to make it easy for you to access your car's rooftop and the roof basket.
