hybrid bike and mountain bike on 07 ford explorer xlt roof rack crossbars

I am looking to carry two bikes, one mountain, and one hybrid on my 2007 Ford XLT roof rack crossbars. I know it's a long way to the roof rack on the SUV and most people would opt to use a trailer hitch receiver mount bike rack but the hybrid bike is very difficult to load on most hitch mount bike racks because it doesn't have the top frame bar that the mountain bike has. I also don't really want to deal with extra length issues of the already long Ford Explorer if I had a hitch rack attached.

The only adapter you need for carrying bikes on your 07 Ford Explorer XLT roof rack bars is the Thule 532 Ride-On Adapter. It connects to your factory rack crossbars and then you simply connect the Thule 599XTR Big Mouth bike rack (the best option for your styles of bicycles) to the 532 Ride-On bars.

For the easist access to your SUV rooftop I suggest also using the Thule 232 Step Up. It simply straps onto any of the four SUV wheels and gets you significantly closer to the SUV rooftop so you can easily load/unload the bikes.
