spare mounted to rear of 2002 Honda CRV

With the spare tire mounted to the rear of my 2002 Honda CR-V, I'm wondering if I'm SOL with carrying bikes on the back using a trunk mount bike rack?

You will only be able to use a spare tire mount bicycle rack. Other types of trunk mount bike racks will not work with your 2002 Honda CR-V model due to interference with the spare tire. So no better way to carry your bikes than on a carrier that mounts right to the spare tire! The Thule 963 Spare Me spare tire mount bike rack is my recommendation. Easy to load and unload bikes and transports up to 2 bicycles no problem. I also suggest adding the Thule 955 No Sway cages. These will prevent any potential bike swing.
