seesawing between using a trunk bike rack and a roof bike rack on my 2002 Honda CRV. would be interested in what others are using. It would be easier to load the bike on a trunk rack (dont have to raise the bikes as high as you would for a roof mount rack) but I think a roof rack for the bikes would be more secure...?
cant use trunk rack on 2002 honda crv for carrying bikes. need roof rack instead.
Unfortunately you cannot use a trunk mount rack on your honda crv because of the rear mounted spare tire. There are spare tire mount bike racks but they can only handle 2 bikes at a time. For 3 bikes I'd suggest using the Thule 430 Tracker II roof rack system. It replaces your current incompatible 2002 Honda CRV factory rack and attaches directly to the same attachment points that the factory rack is currently connected to. The 430 Tracker II system includes four TK8 Tracker Kits that install directly into these attachment points. The other components included in this system are four Thule 430 Tracker II Feet (these snap onto the TK8 Kits that are mounted to the rooftop points) and a pair of load bars. You can then attach any of Thule Racks roof mount bike carriers to the load bars. The 50 inch load bars are the recommended length for 2002 Honda CRV rooftop.
