Do you mean the Yakima BigHorn 4 hitch bike rack? (comes in two versions - the
Yakima BigHorn 4 hitch bike rack for 2" hitch receivers & the
Yakima Big Horn 4 bike hitch rack for 1.25" hitches) This is Yakima Racks most popular mid-level hitch bike rack that has been around for several years. They bring out a new line of hitch racks every couple of years but they always keep the Yakima BigHorn 4 part of the line-up because it's so popular. They have added some new features to the latest model too. With regards to your question about carrying a women's bike on the hitch rack, you can now do this because the Yakima BigHorn 4 uses the Yakima SwitchBlade anti-sway bike cradles with the straps that work with all bike frame styles. The bike will sit kind of funny on the rack though and it's not the easist process to get the womens bike on the cradles. So I'd recommend still using the
Yakima Top Tube adapter on the bike if you are going to be loading and unloading the bike a lot. The Yakima TopTube adapter is a bar that simply clicks onto the seat post and the handlebar stem so you have a horizontal top tube that you can then use as the bar to place on the cradles instead of the actual bike frame. The arms on the Yakima BigHorn do not fold down so that is something to consider as this makes it a bit less convenient to pull into a garage or parallel park sometimes. The
Yakima King Pin 4 bike hitch rack would be the bike rack to go with if folding the arms down is important for you. You should also get the
Yakima DeadLock hitch bike lock accessory too. It includes everything you need to lock the bikes to the bike rack and the hitch bike rack itself to the trailer hitch receiver (recommended for both the Yakima Big Horn 4 and the Yakima KingPin 4).
