Thule T2 Bike Hitch Racks

Hi-
I recently bought a T2 and no one could tell me what the pin does.
guess what...pull the pin, then the latch and the rack drops DOWN so you an open your hatch.

I check out cycling news all the time for the latest pro results and of course doping scandals, but i didn't know they feature bike product reviews too. Very good article on the Thule 916 T2 hitch rack. If you also get the Thule 918 2 bike add-on can you fold the hitch rack up and down also. The T2 works great on my 2004 BMW X5 and folds up and down easily - the pin was pretty self-explanatory (must be a Honda Element driver or something with that problem

Would like to use the Thule th 917 with the 918 2 bike adapter. Only have the 1 1/4 with 300 pound tongue weight on my Subaru but like to carry 3 bikes. Looking at the specs and weight loads, don't think it'd be an issue.

Anyone else ever tried it?
