Default Question about Thule T2 916 hitch bike rack on Toyota FJ Cruiser

Hey there - since loading the bikes onto the roof of my FJ is turning out to be a pain; I was curious if anyone has tried putting a Thule T2 rack onto the back of their FJ Cruiser yet. In theory, it'll fit - I was just wondering if it can be 'folded up' when not in use (and not hit the rear tire).

I prefer the T2 over some of the other hitch-style racks out there, and very rarely carry more than one or two bikes anyway (and if I do, I have the roof rack anyway).

Thanks!

Default fj cruiser needs hitch extender to fold up thule 916 t2

The Thule 916 T2 hitch bike rack works on the Toyota FJ Cruiser no problem if it has a 2" receiver hitch installed (or use the Thule 917 T2 bike rack if a 1.25" receiver hitch is installed), but the spare tire will prevent you from being able to fold the bike rack up. You can always add a hitch extender to add a few inches and then you'll be able to fold the 916 T2 up, just be aware that Thule Racks will not honor their lifetime warranty should you ever have an issue with the bike rack because they stipulate that once their hitch racks have been altered the Thule lifetime warranty is void. I've personally never encountered an issue with using a hitch extension with hitch bike racks however.
