Default croos bars length question for 2001 Ford Explorer roof rack

I'm pretty sure I want to go with the Yakima Lowrider roof rack for my 2door 2001 Ford Explorer. It has the side rails but no factory cross bars. I buddy said that I would need longer bars than normal. Does anyone have any experience with this car model and know if this is true?

You can't always count on your friends catching waves, but in this case you can! When using the Yakima Lowrider to build a Ford Explorer roof rack you will need to go with the 58inch cross bars length. The shorter 48 inch crossbars will not be long enogh to span across your wider roof top. The Yakima Lowrider is an awesome multi-purpose base roof rack system for a 2001 Ford Explorer 2 door, just make sure you get the 58inch round bars too.
