yakima hullraiser aero kayak racks will let you carry 2 kayaks on ford explorer
Unfortunately you will not have enough room to attach two Yakima Mako Saddle/Hully Roller combo kayak racks side by side on your 2005 Ford Explorer factory bars. There just isnt enough room. However, the Yakima HullRaiser Aero is engineered to attach directly to your factory rack crossbars. No need for any adapters either. Also, in addition to making it very easy to load and unload your kayak, the j-cradle design of the HullRaiser Aero allows you to attach two of them to your factory rack, because it cradles each kayak in a semi-vertical fashion instead of the kayaks laying flat, creating enough space on your factory rack cross bars to carry two kayaks. Includes all hardware, 2 heavy-duty straps and a pair of bow & stern tie down straps for securing the kayak bow and stern to the vehicle.
If you do want to still use two sets of the Yakima Mako/HullyRoller kayak racks then installing a multi-purpose base rack system to your factory rack side rails is my suggestion. You will attach the kayak carriers to this multi-purpose base rack's front and rear cross bars. This system includes four Lowrider MAX towers, four C1 Claws (made specifically for your vehicle) and two cross bars. The Yakima Lowrider MAX Complete Roof Rack Base System w/ C1 Claws attaches directly to your rooftop siderails. Please note that the 58" crossbars are the required length for providing enough room for two kayak carriers next to each other.
