where to start for a 2001 Chevy Malibu kayak rack & bike rack

Hola from warm and sunny Cali!!! I just inherited a 2001 Chevy Malibu and i want to carry my kayak and bike on the car rooftop at the same time. It doesn't have any kind of factory roof rack on it or anything and wondering where i need to start to build a set up for my needs. Any help would be appreciated!

The Thule 400XT Aero Complete Roof Rack Base System is engineered to fit your 2001 Chevrolet Malibu perfectly and is pretty easy to install (the instructions do a nice job of laying it out clearly how the roof rack goes on). It's important to remember that no matter what type of gear you plan to carry on your roof (in your case a bike and a kayak), you will first need a multi-purpose roof rack base system. The Thule 400XT system includes four 400XT feet, four 2015 Fit Kit Clips (specific to your vehicle) and two load bars. The Fit Kit clips connect snugly to where the end of your roof and door jambs meet.

Once you've installed the 400XT you now have a bonified 2001 Chevy Malibu roof rack. Now you can choose any Thule kayak rack and Thule bike rack that you desire and attach them directly to the 400XT Aero front and rear load bars. The 50inch load bars length is the recommended size for your 2001 Chevrolet Malibu and will allow enough room for both kayak and bike carriers at the same time.
