The kayak rack that is getting all the play right now is the
SportRack J Staker kayak rack. It mounts right to your 02 Chevrolet Venture car rack bars too. The price for SportRack J Stacker is well below the similar j cradle style kayak racks offered by Yakima racks and Thule Racks. Interestingly, Thule Racks recently bought the SportRack car rack company, probably as a way to offer a less expensive product line as an alternative to their premium priced models. The Sport Rack J Staker does all the things these more expensive kayak racks do though. It works with all styles of kayaks, makes it easy to load the kayak - just lift one end into one of the cradles then lift the other end of the kayak into theother cradle (the cradle that already has the kayak loaded into it will do all the heavy lifting as you place the other end of the kayak into the other Sport Rack J Staker cradle). Comes with heavy duty straps to firmly strap the kayak to the rack and also includes a pair of bow and stern straps to safely stabilize the bow and stern of the kayak to the front and rear of the Chevy Venture. The cool thing about this style of kayak carrier is that you will have enough room to add a second SportRacks J Stacker to the Chevy Venture roof rack crossbars if you want to carry another kayak ever. If you used a kayak carrier that hauls the kayak flat (such as the
Thule 883 Glide and Set kayak carrier) you would only have enough room on the Chevy Venture car rack bars for one kayak. The J cradle design of the SportRacks J Staker allows for enough room to place 2 J Stackers if you want to.
