Default mtn & road bikes on 2001 Cadillac Catera roof rack

Now that the warm weather is finally just around the corner, I gotta start thinking about how I'm going to get my mountain bike and road bike on top of my 2001 Cadillac Catera. The roof is currently "naked" and I want to give it a nice car rack coat. Anyone have the 2001 Cadillac Catera with a roof bike rack on it and care to enlighten me with what components I'll need ?

Default I use the Yakima Q Towers & HighRoller bike racks on my Cadillac Catera

I went with the Yakima Q Tower system for my 2000 Cadillac Catera roof rack system. I use the Yakima Q30 clips and I'm pretty sure they're the same one's you want for a 2001 Cadillac Catera car rack. Doublecheck with the Yakima fit guide that this is true. I've been using the Q Towers for several years and have never had any issues with them. Go with the 48inch crossbars length too. Thats plenty of room for the bike carriers and you won't have very much of the bars sticking out on either side, which I think looks ugly and unfinished (especially on the Cadillac Catera am I right!?!?! )

I did just upgrade to new Yakima bike racks, and I was having a hard time deciding between the Yakima HighRoller and the Yakima SprocketRocket. Both have gotten rave reviews and work well with both road bikes and mountain bikes. The main difference is the High Roller is an upright mount rack allowing you to load up the entire bike without taking the front wheel off first. With the Sprocket Rocket you have to take off the front wheel and mount the fork to the bike rack fork block and tighten up with the skewer. I personally decided on a couple of HighRollers because once I tested a friend's out I realized just how magically quick the bikes are loaded up and tightened down. There is no wasting time between getting done with my ride and getting home to my nagging wife!!! That means I can ride even longer, oh yeah!
