BMW X5 roof box with Thule 604 Ascent 1600 roof top cargo box

BMW X5 roof box confirmed install: The base rack cross bars for the Thule 604 Ascent cargo box were needed first, so the Thule 450 Crossroad base rack system with the 58 inch Thule bars on the BMW X5 side rails. The Thule 544 4 pack of locks was added to lock the 450 Crossroad Feet to the side rails. Specifically the crossbars were positioned five inches from the front side rail seam and then 30 inches center to center. The Thule 604 Ascent 1600 box fits the proportions of the BMW X5 perfectly. The cargo box sits back on the roof perfectly. Best of all, and a consideration when mounting any cargo box to a vehicle with a rear hatch, is that with the Thule 604 Ascent the rear hatch opens completely without the box interfering with the full open position of the door.
