Default 2003 audi a3 roof rack adjustment question

I just bought the Thule 400XTR Rapid Aero roof rack and Thule 724 ski rack for my 2006 Audi a3. Has anyone out there with this vehicle and rack set up mounted the Thule rack in front of the indented locations on the door frame? results?? I'm asking because I want just a little extra room for the ski bindings to fit in the middle of the two crossbars.

Default spread my 2003 audi a3 roof rack out for snowboard bindings no problem

I spread both the front and rear 2003 Audi a3 2168 Fit Kit clips and 400XTR feet out further to accommodate my snowboards with bindings so they would be in the middle. I haven't had any problems whatsoever with this adjustment. My advice is to just pay extra attention and caution to how much you tighten it down so that you don't dent the door frame. But that would be something you should be aware of even if you put the 400XTR and FitKit clips perfectly in the indentations that Thule racks says the 400XTR rapid Aero car rack should go on the 2003 Audi a3.

Default how far did you move front and back 400XTR rapid feet and fit kits

Thanks for the reply irish eric. This is good to know. I'm wondering exactly how much you moved the front 400XTR feet and 2168 FitKit clips and ditto for the back ones?

Default about 1 inch forward and 1/2 inch backward on Audi a3 car rooftop

about an inch forward in the front and around half an inch in the back. This was all the distance I needed for my snowboard bindings to clear the load bars and position inside the bars. I'm sure this would make enough room for your ski bindings too?
