The Thule 400XT Aero roof rack base system fits your 2003 Mini Cooper roof top perfectly. The Thule 400XT Aero system includes four 400XT Aero feet, four FitKit 2145 Clips (specific to your Mini Cooper) and two square load bars (please note you will need to choose the 50" length square load bars for your roof top). You will attach the bike carriers to the front and rear load bars.

If you prefer a fork mount bike rack (removal of the front wheel required) then either the Thule 518 Echelon or the Thule 517 Peloton are your best options. Both are fork mount bike racks that offer quick and easy loading and hold the bikes very securely when in transit. They work with all styles of bicycles.
