Default go with thule 450 crossroad half pack & thule 997 goal post

Your best bet is to first attach the Thule 450 Crossroad half pack system to the Ford Explorer Sport Track side rails. The Thule 450 CrossRoad half pack includes a pair of 450 Crossroad Feet and a single cross bar. The 58inch cross bar is the recommended length for the 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Track. You attach the single crossbar to the two 450 Crossroad feet then you mount the 450 Crossraod Feet to the Sport Trac's side rails.

Next you should then get the Thule 997 GoalPost for the receiver hitch. The Thule 997 Goal Post installs on 2 inch hitch receivers and includes a 58 inch crossbar. This is the t-rack you are describing. You can then load up ladders, lumber etc on the front and rear crossbars.

The Thule 503 Load Stops are a great general purpose carrier that attach to the Thule crossbars. Use a pair of rack straps with them. They are sweet for carrying lumber, ladder etc. Keeps the items in place, with no lateral side to side movement or rocking up and down.
